Dudley Guest Hospital site transformed into homes as work complete
The transformation of a former hospital in Dudley is now complete following an extensive programme to build dozens of new homes.
The restoration of the locally listed former Porter's Lodge and the administration building at Dudley Guest Hospital has created Bourne Hall – a new development of 29 luxury apartments, alongside 127 new homes at Tipton Road.
Building work started in November 2015.
The scheme was named Butler's Crescent, in tribute to renowned Black Country architect Albert Thomas Butler who was responsible for modifications to the previous hospital building.
Of the new homes, 118 have now been sold with the remaining 39 available for rent through the council.
Wates Residential North has delivered the new development in partnership with Dudley Council and Homes England.

The hospital closed more than a decade ago after most departments, including A&E, moved to Russells Hall Hospital. It was built in 1849 for injured miners, before chainmaker Joseph Guest turned it into a hospital.
In 2016, the derelict and overgrown former hospital site caught the eye of film-makers and featured in the critically-acclaimed post-apocalyptic horror, The Girl with all the Gifts, which starred Glenn Close and Gemma Arterton.
