May the force be with you! £100,000 Star Wars collection up at auction

Staff at Aston's Auctioneers, in Dudley, have got their hands on one of the biggest ever Star Wars collections.

The is going under the hammer for the first time - and one figure is expected to land almost £2,000.

With a vast range of items in the collection, experts have tipped the most valuable item to be a rare Boba Fett action figure made by toy company Kenner.

Still in its original box, the 3.75 inch toy is expected to be the best selling item in the vast collection.

The huge intergalactic collection was put together by an anonymous Star Wars enthusiast who has now decided to sell it on.

It took auctioneers three days to go through the collection - some of which was on display at The Milky Way theme park, in Devon, before bringing it up to the Black Country in a lorry.

There are more than 600 lots in the whole auction sale that ranges from classic toys to more modern items such as a Lego Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer set that is estimated to reach £500.

One of the most bizarre sales, that took up a huge space in the lorry during transit sees 30 boxes full of Lego Star Wars pieces, mostly sorted into colours, that could reach a whopping £1,200.

This sale is expected to challenge the current record for money made for a Star Wars auction after two ultra-rare Darth Vadar and Obi-Wan Kenobi action figures sold for £101,000 in April this year at American auctioneers Hake's.

The two figures were made in 1978 by toy manufacturer Kenner and the Black Country collection, which also has many Kenner-made items, could reach six-figures.

Aston's auctioneer and toy specialist, Kayleigh Davies, said: "We spent three days down in Devon bringing this collection back to the Black Country and filled up a 7.5 ton lorry in the process.

"It was really difficult to bring it all together as some of the better items were on display but the rest were sat in the back.

"There's some great, uncommon items in the list including the Boba Fett figure and it's funny that many of these expensive items were not popular when they came out, but now they're worth so much because they're so rare.

"The collection is an absolute treasure trove and has everything you can think of when it comes to Star Wars, from the vintage era to the modern films.

"It's a once in a lifetime collection that we'll never see again.

"I think there will be a few surprises in the sales and if buyers are missing one item from their collection then they'll pay whatever it takes to get it - we can't wait for them to go on sale now."

The lot goes under the hammer on Aston's in Dudley on September 18 from 10am.
