Chestnut Corner, off Braemar Avenue in Wordsley, was built in 2009 – with wooden features throughout, which were all built using wood from woodland behind the property.

Property owner, Kevin Whittingham, who designed it, said: “We built it in the back garden of our previous house, using timber from woodland nearby. We felled all the trees ourselves and built the property.

“We were going to build a normal house, but we got a felling licence for the woodland and while we were doing that we were trying to find a purchaser for the timber.

“It is beautiful oak and chestnut so we thought why don’t we build a house out of it. From ground-breaking to moving in, it took about nine months – it took us another couple of months to do other bits – and we have been living in it since.

“We are selling up because we have plans for the future, new adventures,”

On the ground floor, there are two double bedrooms, a shower room, utility room and gym/wine cellar.

The property backs onto greenbelt

The first floor also has a cloakroom and bedroom five/office.

With a further staircase leading to the second floor, which has a master bedroom, with two identical walk-in wardrobes, en-suite shower room with a separate bath and a Sweet Chestnut balcony overlooking the garden – a further double bedroom with mezzanine sleeping area and en-suite shower room.

The private rear garden is a gardener’s paradise, with a triple garage leading to a open vast private lawn area.
