M5 closed after lorry jackknifed causing long delays

A lorry jackknifed on the M5, causing major disruption on the motorway.

Drivers were warned to avoid the M5 heading southbound between junctions three and four, near Halesowen after long delays.

Police and firefighters arrived at the scene following the incident around 9.30am.

The stricken lorry was left blocking three lanes of the carriageway and part of its cab lying next to it on the ground.

Debris was also scattered across the motorway.

The driver has treated for a hand and shoulder injury but did not require hospital care.

The route fully reopened at around 3.50pm.
