A further 569 people were confirmed to have died in the UK today, including 76 in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.

It was the biggest daily increase in deaths both nationally and locally, with 288 people across our region now confirmed to have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

And Boris Johnson is still showing signs of coronavirus, Downing Street said, as it confirmed the Government is working with nine potential suppliers over a new Covid-19 antibody test.

Meanwhile police in the West Midlands continue to adapt to the new rules and have begun charging people - including one alleged burglar said to have stolen alcohol from Dudley Zoo.

And support continues to be shown for NHS frontline staff across the region, with more clapping for carers expected tonight and a huge message written for health workers in a field near Barr Beacon.
