Tireless Dr Nick Makwana was full of enthusiasm as he threw shapes throughout the day in the reception at Sandwell Hospital.

Visitors and staff got more than they bargained for as the dancing doctor turned heads and raised smiles. Intrepid members of staff even got involved themselves and joined Nick for a dance.

WATCH Dr Nick in action:

He was raising funds for Your Trust Charity, the registered charity for Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust which runs the hospital where he works.

The reception area was more akin to a nightclub as Nick busted shapes during the day. As well as staff he was also joined by children from Sandwell Day Nursery. He was also be raising money for the Encephalitis Society and Children In Need.

He danced to a variety of music spanning the decades from the 1970s to the current charts, as well as some Bollywood and African beats to reflect the diverse population the trust serves.

Nick said: “I wanted to do something for charity that was a little bit different and also highlighted the importance of regular exercise on physical and mental health for staff and patients.

“These three charities are very important. Your Trust Charity has been making a huge difference to the lives of patients and staff locally which I really wanted to support.

"I am also a professional panel member of the encephalitis society and I have seen first-hand the great work they do in raising awareness and supporting families affected by this devastating disease.

“And of course it’s Children In Need day so it’s a great way to recognise the work they do.”
