Walsall Manor Hospital ward remains closed after norovirus outbreak

A hospital ward at Walsall Manor Hospital remained closed last night after an outbreak of norovirus.

Ward 14 had remained closed since Tuesday night after a patient tested positive for the highly contagious infection.

A spokesman for Walsall NHS Trust said last night: "Ward 14 at Walsall Manor Hospital is still closed to visitors today as we protect patients and staff from the highly contagious norovirus infection."

Patients were told the to avoid the ward unless they were sick.

The outbreak had been contained to that ward and the rest of the hospital remained open to patients.
