Prepare for lift off with Space Day at the Mander Centre!

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 1, the mission that first put a man on the moon, the Mander Centre is holding Space Day on the 20th July. The day will be filled with out-of-this-world fun activities for all the family to join in for free, from 9-5pm on the Lower Mall.

Take a journey into the night sky in the immersive and interactive inflatable planetarium, experience and explore the solar system up close with a range of different shows throughout the day! ‘Great Planet Adventures’, takes a trip through our Solar System looking at how we might live on other planets, search out alien life on Mars with ‘We are Aliens’ and discover how a private lander and rover were sent to the Moon with 'Back to the Moon for Good'!

Walk in the footsteps of Neil Armstrong with a VR experience not to be missed. Throw yourself into the void 250 miles above the Earth in the award-winning VR spacewalk inspired by NASA’s training program and the astonishing experiences of its astronauts. One small step for man…

Experiment with Wolverhampton University, explore temperatures in space with thermal imaging and dry ice, discover the effects of UV rays and radiation for astronauts and create a bio-dome to take home with you!

Make and create at the craft station. Stick, glitter, glue and design your own galaxy to take away with you!
