School in Wolverhampton rated good by Ofsted
A "caring and inclusive" school in Wolverhampton has been rated "good" by the education watchdog.
St Luke's Church of England Aided Primary, Blakenhall, was found to have "maintained a good equality of education" according to a report by Ofsted.
Inspector Kirsty Foulkes found the Park Street South School offered a "sense of community" which helps youngsters settle into the school.
The report said: "The supportive attitudes of staff and the exemplary behaviour of pupils are significant strengths of the school.
"Attention to knowing and nurturing each individual child and leaders’ dedication to providing a wide range of visits and experiences for pupils reflect the ethos of the school.
"Typical comments from parents include: ‘they all go the extra mile for the children and I am thrilled that my child is part of all this’ and ‘the headteacher sees every child as her own.’"
The inspector, who visited in March, also found the early years department at the school was "stimulating and well-resourced", with children working well with family groups and focused adult-led groups.
However, the report said children needed "further opportunities" to expand their use and knowledge of vocabulary for communicating.
Alison Grennan, headteacher at the school, said: “We are delighted that the report has recognised the special ethos of our school and are proud of the commitment and dedication of all our pupils, staff, parents and Governors who contribute to our wonderful and diverse school community.”
Staff say they are proud to be part of the school community and agree that it has a culture which "encourages calm and orderly conduct and is aspirational for all pupils".
The inspector also found the "supportive attitudes and exemplary behaviour of pupils are significant strengths".
Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre, Wolverhampton Council's cabinet member for education and skills, said: "This is a very positive report which reflects well on the good work of Alison Grennan, her team and everyone connected with St Luke's Church of England Aided Primary School.
"It is great to read how happy children, parents and staff are with the school, and that it is providing a good quality of education for its pupils."
