Willenhall teachers transformed into fictional favourites for World Book Day

Teachers at a school in Willenhall marked World Book Day by dressing up as some fictional favourites.

Staff at St Thomas More Catholic School marked the reading celebration day by coming into school in full costumes of characters from their favourite novels representative of their rites of passage.

Characters including Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Little Red Riding Hood and Cruella de Vil.

Each student was given a £1 book token which they could exchange for an exclusive World Book Day book.

Emma Taylor-Hamblett, organiser and teacher, said: "Here at St Thomas More we truly believe that teachers hold the key to unlocking passions within our students.

"Talking about books has been a joy for staff and students and it is just one of the cross-curricular strategies we are now employing as a school to enhance the literacy diet experienced by our young people every day."
