Adam Cullen, from Oldbury, has offered to drive his three-year-old BMW for prom dates in the region to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The hospital helped his little brother, nine-year-old Mason Williams, who was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

The condition means the left side of the heart does not form correctly.

Adam said: "I saw someone's post on Facebook and thought my car was better and he was charging £150 and people were commenting like 'I wish I could afford this'.

"I saw the post and thought 'what are you doing'?

"I thought I would do it for a better cause, rather than lining my own pockets.

"Some people have offered to pay £30 and others have offered to pay £100.

"What is it going to cost me? Half an hour and a fiver in diesel.

"There's the factor in helping people out, young people that would not be able to go, and to also raise money for the charity."

The 22-year-old said he aims to raise as much as he can after the hospital treated his brother.

He said: "He wouldn't have been here if it wasn't for them.

"He was born with half a heart effectively and he also has a lot of other issues – he's nine but he's very small.

"I knew I wouldn't be able to get bucket loads – I can only do what I can do."

The white BMW three-series M-performance, a "prized possession", has a bright ribbon attached to the front to enhance the prom experience for people.

Adam went to his prom in his nan's neighbour's car – a Volkswagen Phaeton.

"It was a decent car, but I knew the struggle my mother had to sort it out," he added.
