A parent of a pupil at Bilbrook C of E Middle School, in Bilbrook Road, Mark Long, approached the school with the idea of creating a stained glass window to provide a legacy for the current children.

The school decided to base it around its ethos of 'let your light shine' Matthew 5:16 and then ran a competition for children to come up with a design.

The designs of five children were chosen and Mark began creating the window which was finished at Easter.

Bishop Clive Gregory officially unveiled the window last week with competition winners Louise Brain, Rico Morris, Emma Long, Kadi Tattersall and Lance Howell.

Headteacher, Andrew Tilley, said: “It’s wonderful that the children’s imagination has been able to be captured in this magnificent piece of Christian artwork.

"The ethos at Bilbrook is all about letting your light shine and I’m very proud that all of the children here do so on a regular basis.

"I must thank Mark for giving up his time in making the designs come to life.”
