More than 75 children will benefit from the outdoor classroom development at Gorsemoor Primary School, which was funded by Staffordshire County Council and took over just two weeks to complete.

The works included re-surfacing with softpore and artificial grass and new drainage, installation of a large shelter, new boundary fencing and den posts have been installed.

The shelter will enable the children to use the outdoor area in all weathers and it can be accessed directly via the classroom, thanks to a new door.

Emilie Lees, deputy headteacher at Gorsemoor Primary School, said: “The teachers and children are over the moon with the new outdoor classroom. Outdoor learning has been shown to have a positive impact on children’s development and we now have an area that our children can use whatever the weather.

"I would like to thank Staffordshire County Council for funding the development, Dawkes Contractors for the building works and Carabou Events in Heath Hayes for donating the balloons for our official opening and ribbon cutting event.”
