Chaplain suspended at troubled Wolverhampton school
A Wolverhampton school has been rocked by the suspension of a second senior staff member in a matter of days.
The Reverend David Weller, chaplain at St Peter’s Collegiate School in Wolverhampton, has been suspended while a complaint against him is investigated.
It follows the suspension of headteacher David Lewis last week.
The Diocese of Lichfield, which runs the school, said the two matters were not linked.
A spokesperson for the diocese said: "The Rev David Weller has been suspended as chaplain at St Peter’s Collegiate School while a complaint against him is investigated. His suspension is a neutral act.
"There is no further update at this stage about the school’s principal. The two matters are being treated separately and are not linked."
Rev Weller was previously senior chaplain at the University of Wolverhampton.
St Peter's, on Compton Park, was rated as good by Ofsted in its last inspection in September 2017.
