Councillors will review progress made at a school which was placed in special measures after teachers said they feared for their own safety.

New Leaf Inclusion Centre in Walsall was rated 'inadequate' by Ofsted inspectors in April last year after students attempted to break through locked doors and set off a fire alarm during their visit.

Inspectors visited the Pelsall Lane site again in October to monitor the progress and gave a positive review of the changes being made.

All of the pupils on the school roll have encountered difficulties earlier in their education and most were excluded from their previous school.

Now Walsall Council's Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee will discuss the progress to ensure the council is taking appropriate action in addressing the concerns previously expressed.

The committee meeting will be held tomorrow at 6pm.
