Man stabbed in neck with bottle in Solihull town centre

Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in the neck with a bottle in Solihull town centre.

There was a large cordon and police presence in High Street this morning after officers were called to reports of a stabbing shortly after 2am.

A 39-year-old man was taken to hospital with a wound to his neck from a bottle.

A number of yellow evidence markers could be seen on the street, where forensic officers had been examining the scene.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "We are investigating reports of a stabbing in High Street, Solihull, at just before 2.15am this morning.

"A 39-year-old man suffered a wound to his neck from a bottle and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"As part of our investigations we are collecting CCTV footage and police cordons are in place in the area."
