Teen charged with criminal damage and shoplifting after Walsall Asda climbing incident

A teenager has been charged after an incident where a man climbed onto the ceiling above shoppers at a busy Black Country Asda.

Eduard Trocan, 18, of Drayton Street, Walsall, is due to appear before magistrates in Wolverhampton tomorrow after he was charged with criminal damage and shoplifting.

He has been remanded in custody.

It comes after several videos filmed at Asda's Walsall superstore were published online showing a man attempting to walk on the lights and fixtures above the self-checkout area on Friday afternoon.

One of the films, taken by Milan Grundmann, was viewed more than 200,000 times within six hours of being posted on Facebook.

In the video a man can be seen climbing from ceiling lights and dangling from fittings before eventually falling to the floor and being restrained by security staff.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Eduard Trocan, aged 18, of Drayton Street, Walsall, has been charged with criminal damage and shoplifting following an incident at Asda in Walsall on January 24.

"He has been remanded in custody to appear before magistrates in Wolverhampton tomorrow."
