Schoolboy injured in Willenhall hit-and-run

A schoolboy was left seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash in Willenhall.

The 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital with leg injuries after being hit by the car on Lucknow Road, near its junction with Martin Drive, on Monday.

Police are now appealing for help tracing the driver who fled after the crash happened during the school run.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating after a car hit a teenager on Lucknow Road at the junction with Martin Drive in Willenhall, Walsall, just before 3.30pm on Monday.

"The 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.

"Enquiries continue to trace the driver, who left the scene."

Jordan Eggington, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 3.13pm on Monday to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian at the junction of Martin Drive and Lucknow Road in Willenhall.

"We sent one ambulance to the scene and treated one patient, a teenage boy.

"He was taken to New Cross Hospital for further treatment.”
