Woman denies murdering man who died week after street robbery

A woman has denied murdering a 39-year-old man and will stand trial in the new year.

Mark Lloyd died after the attack during a street robbery in Aldridge Road, in Perry Barr, at around 11.10pm on September 21.

Shannon Cronin, of Clyde Street, Cradley Heath denied murder, manslaughter and robbery at a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday(4).

The 23-year-old admitted a charge of fraud.

During the same hearing, her co-accused, 26-year-old Sean Sweeney, of Oscott Road, in Perry Barr, pleaded not guilty to Mr Lloyd’s murder.

Sweeney pleaded guilty to manslaughter, as well as charges of robbery and fraud.

A trial date has been set for March 21 next year.

Both Cronin and Sweeney were remanded in custody until that date.
