Murder arrest after man found dead in Birmingham

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 60-year-old man was found dead in Birmingham today.

The man was found with fatal injuries in Merlin Walk, in Castle Vale, in the early hours of Sunday morning

Officers were called to Merlin Walk, in Castle Vale, at around 1.10am.

A 60-year-old man was found inside a house and was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem will take place in due course.

A 52-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody for questioning.

West Midlands Police officers have launched an investigation and a cordon is currently in place in Merlin Walk, while enquiries are carried out.

Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield, from the force's homicide team, said: "A man has sadly lost his life and we are working to establish exactly what happened in the early hours of this morning.

"We are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area but would urge anyone with information which can assist our investigation to come forward."
