Car stolen in knifepoint carjacking found half a mile away

A car stolen during a knifepoint carjacking in Smethwick has been recovered by police.

The 22-year-old victim was driving his Seat Arona in Grove Lane when the cars in front of him suddenly stopped and he was dragged out of his car by a man with a knife.

He was then kicked and punched before his car was taken at about 10pm on September 23.

The Seat Arona was found by police on Thursday afternoon in Higgins Walk, around half a mile away from where it was stolen.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "West Midlands Police officers found a Seat Arona in Higgins Walk, Smethwick, on Thursday afternoon which was stolen during a knifepoint carjacking on September 23 in Grove Lane, Smethwick.

"The 22-year-old male victim was driving in Grove Lane just after 10pm when cars in front of him suddenly stopped and he was dragged out of his car by a man brandishing a knife.

"The victim was kicked and punched before the car was taken.

"The car was recovered on cloned plates.

"Enquiries into the robbery continue."
