Tipton man charged after police officer hit by car in Wolverhampton city centre

A Black Country man will appear in court today after a police officer was hit by a car in Wolverhampton city centre.

The officer was hit while attempting to flag down a BMW in Victoria Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The constable escaped with minor injuries.

A 22-year-old man has now been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and was due to appear at Dudley Magistrates Court today.

Joshua Arnold, of Dick Sheppard Avenue in Tipton, is also charged with dangerous driving, other motoring offences and possession of cannabis.
