Youths lighting fires in Uttoxeter town centre

Large groups of youths have been loitering and lighting fires in Uttoxeter town centre.

Police are increasing patrols after the rise in anti-social behaviour on Tuesday.

Officers were called to reports of large groups of youths loitering around the Stone Road and Market Place areas causing nuisance and setting small fires.

Sergeant Sally Bebbington, reduction hub sergeant for East Staffordshire neighbourhood policing team, said: "We want to reassure local residents that offending of this nature will not be tolerated and we are taking all necessary action to locate and arrest all those involved.

"We would encourage parents to have knowledge of the whereabouts of their children especially overnight and into the early hours."
