Police were called to Keir Road in Wednesbury at around 1.50pm yesterday to reports of a man threatening a family inside a house.

The suspect was demanding that his pet cat be returned to him as he searched the home, say West Midlands Police.

The cat was no-where to be found and the suspect allegedly threatened a 30-year-old man with a handgun before cycling off towards Manor Road.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Specialist police teams were deployed and the suspect was stopped and spoken to by officers but no weapons were found.

"It’s believed this is an on-going dispute and an investigation is now underway.
