A woman, aged in her 90s, let three men into her home in Hollies Road, Tividale, after they claimed to be from Sandwell Council.

The men, who said they were carrying out repair work, then raided her home.

The pensioner, who felt unsafe and realised something was wrong, informed a neighbour and rang the police.

But the gang had already fled with a quantity of cash.

It is not known how much the offenders took.

And now West Midlands Police has launched an appeal in a bid to track the men down.

Anyone with information can contact the force via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, or by calling 101 anytime.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
