Arrests after spate of break-ins and car key burglaries near Stourbridge

Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with two burglaries in the Dudley borough.

Police say a Toyota Aygo car was stolen after a break-in at a property, on Kittiwake Drive, Brierley Hill, alongside other personal items just before 1am today.

Just half an hour later, police received a report of a second burglary in Melrose Avenue, Pedmore, Stourbridge.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy, two 17-year-old boys and a 19-year-old man in a road nearby. They remained in police custody this morning.

In a separate incident, officers found a car on stolen plates in Ketley Fields, Kingswinford, at 11.30pm yesterday.

CCTV shows break-in attempt

It came after a spate of recent car key burglaries in Brierley Hill and Stourbridge.

Three balaclava-clad individuals were captured on CCTV trying to enter an address Stourbridge on Saturday at around 1.30am.

Two men, whose faces were covered, can be initially seen trying to open the front door of the property.

Then one of the men returns to try the door for a second time, while a third man then tries to open the garage.

The homeowner, who wished to remain anonymous said: "Three people wearing balaclavas attempted to break in.

"They tried the door handle and the garage door and looked through the front window with a torch.

"They were not concerned by the security light or the camera.

"The video clearly shows they were on neighbouring properties so please be vigilant and keep doors and windows secure."

A West Midlands Police spokesman confirmed officers are investigating the incident.
