Man charged over fatal stabbing

A man has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Birmingham

Haseeb Mirza, 25, of St Benedicts Road in the Small Heath area of Birmingham has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A 36-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released pending further investigation.

Malik Hussain, 35, was found with serious injuries in Baker Street at around 11.20pm on July 12 and was confirmed dead at the scene soon afterwards.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died from two stab wounds.

Detective Michelle Allen, from the force’s homicide team, said: “This charge is a significant development in a murder that has shocked the local community. We have been working flat-out to move the investigation forward.

“Malik’s family are devastated by his death and are still trying to come to terms with their loss; they need answers. I urge anyone with any information to come forward and help us get those answers."
