An elderly woman had her pension stolen after being befriended by a thief in a Black Country shopping centre.

Police want to speak to this man

The 88-year-old was shopping at New Square Shopping Centre in West Bromwich on June 10, when a man offered to take her home.

He told her to wait inside while he loaded her trolley bag into his car, telling her he would drive round to collect her, before fleeing.

The trolley bag was later found, but the woman's pension money for the week, more than £100, was stolen.

Now, the police force has released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Officers want to speak to the man pictured.

"If you think you can help them track him down, please get in touch via live chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, call 101 anytime.

"Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting crime reference number 20SW/137554B/19."
