The driver was targeted by robbers on Stanhope Road at around 10.20am today.

The man was pushed to the ground as the thieves made off with the box in a white van.

Police later found the abandoned van by nearby allotments where the empty cash box and a stash of what is believed to be heroin was found.

It's not known how many people were involved and police continue to investigate.

Craig Hughes, spokesman for West Midlands Police, said: "Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information can contact us via live chat at between 8am and midnight or call 101 anytime quoting log number 690 of 22/5/19.

"Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
