Man in hospital after latest shooting in Birmingham

A 21-year-old man is in hospital today after he was shot in the Alum Rock area of Birmingham last night.

The man suffered two gun shot wounds to his back and arm but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The shooting took place just before 11pm on Belchers Lane at the junction with Cotterills Lane.

Police have closed both roads and are asking motorists to avoid the area.

Inspector Jon Kiteley said: “We are in the early stages of this investigation and asking anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch with us.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who has any information that could assist us in understanding the circumstances around this shooting.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police quoting crime reference number 20BE/115752C/19.
