Teenager punched and threatened with knife in Tipton park robbery

A teenage boy was punched in the face and threatened with a knife in a robbery in a Tipton park.

The 14-year-old boy was with a group of his friends when the incident unfolded at Jubilee Park, in Powis Avenue, at around 4.30pm on Monday.

He was approached by a large group of teenagers – and one punched him in the face and showed him a knife in his pocket.

The group then stole his mountain bike – which was later recovered by cops.

West Midlands Police officers are now investigating the robbery and are calling for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police are investigating reports of a robbery in Jubilee Park , Powis Avenue, Tipton, at 4.30pm on Monday.

"A 14-year-old boy was with his friends when he was approached by a large group of teenagers.

"One of the group punched the boy in the face and showed him a knife in his pocket before stealing his mountain bike. Fortunately he was not seriously injured.

"The bike, which had been damaged, was later recovered by police."
