Man charged after shooting outside Walsall gym

A man has been charged after a shooting outside a gym in Walsall.

Police cordoned off the car park

Detectives launched an investigation after a 45-year-old man was shot.

The shooting happened on the car park outside Better Gym, in Lichfield Road, Walsall Wood, at around 8pm on February 10.

Police say the victim made their way to an address, in Aldridge, where paramedics were called.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Jake Hurst, aged 31, from Castlehill Road, Walsall, was arrested on Thursday.

He was charged with wounding and possession of a firearm.

He was appearing before Walsall Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Detective Inspector Chris Fox from force CID, said: “The victim was left with serious injuries which he continues to recover from.

“I’d still like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who hasn’t already contacted us.

"Your information could be vital to our investigation.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information that could help enquiries, is asked to call West Midlands Police immediately on 101 quoting log number 2352 from 10 February.
