Man injured as suspected thief sped off in van from Asda car park

A man was knocked down in an Asda supermarket car park after confronting a suspected thief.

It happened in the car park of Asda Great Barr

The man was in the Queslett store car park, in Old Horns Crescent, Great Barr, on Sunday at around 12.25pm.

West Midlands Police said the victim, a man aged in his early 30s, had seen the driver of a van removing number plates from cars.

He challenged the thief as he was getting back into the van, and held onto the off-side wing mirror.

But the van drove off causing the victim to be flung to the ground, say police.

The victim suffered a broken collar bone.

The man was taken to Sandwell General Hospital for further checks.

Police have launched an appeal. No arrests have been made at this stage.
