Man assaulted during Stourbridge carjacking

A man was assaulted during a terrifying carjacking incident in Stourbridge.

The incident unfolded in Pargeter Street in the town between 4pm and 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

The man assaulted the car owner, a man in his 60s, before fleeing with his Mercedes and driving off down Worcester Street.

His car was later recovered days later in the Oldbury area.

West Midlands Police has now launched an investigation into the carjacking and is calling for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police are investigating a carjacking in Pargeter Street, Stourbridge, between 4pm and 4.30pm on Sunday.

"The driver of a Mercedes, in his early 60s, was assaulted by a man with a white scarf over his face, who took the keys and drove off along Worcester Street."

Officers later recovered the vehicle in St Matthews Road, in Oldbury, on Thursday.
