Firefighters were called to the property in Silkmore Lane at around 9pm on Thursday night.

It is believed the fire started in the front garden – before it spread to the front of the house.

No one is believed to have been injured in the fire and the ambulance service confirmed they were not called to the incident.

There was minor damage to the house, as well as trees and fencing.

"The incident involved a fire just outside the house and we believe it was started deliberately.

"The fire started in the conifers and spread to the building but there was only minor damage to the outside of the building.

"There was also damage to the trees and fence outside the house."

A Staffordshire Police spokesman added: "Officers from Staffordshire Police were called to a report of a fire on the front garden of an address on Silkmore Lane in Stafford before 10pm last night.

"Colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.

"An investigation is underway."
