Group try to distract Great Barr shopkeeper in attempted burglary

A group of men tried to distract a shopkeeper during an attempted burglary at a Great Barr store.

The men targeted the shop in Greenholm Road, at around midday on Friday, March 29.

The group split up – with one attempting to distract the shopkeeper, before the others tried to access a living area through a wooden door.

But the wannabe thieves were disturbed and fled the scene empty-handed.

West Midlands Police has now launched an investigation into the attempted burglary and have released images of the men they are looking to trace.

A spokesman for the force said: "We want to speak to these men after a shopkeeper was distracted during an attempted burglary in Great Barr.

"A group entered a shop in Greenholm Road around midday on Friday March 29.

"After splitting up, one of them approached the counter and asked for a scratch card.

"The others then tried to open a wooden door leading to a living area but were disturbed and fled empty-handed."
