Woman punched in head during latest attempted car-jacking

Armed robbers punched a woman several times in her head before stealing her car keys during an attempted car-jacking.

The woman was approached by a group of men who demanded she get out the car in Tye Gardens, Pedmore, Stourbridge.

She refused and was punched several times in the head before the robbers fled with her car keys but not her vehicle, a West Midlands Police spokesman said.

Police believe one man was armed with a machete.

The terrifying incident took place on Wednesday around 2.40pm.

The spokesman said: "Fortunately she was not seriously injured.

"Anyone with information can contact us, quoting crime reference number 20DY/37513X/19 via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, call 101 anytime or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Neighbours spokes of their shock at the incident.

One man, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Express & Star: "I think they [the robbers] had balaclavas.

"I was told they were hitting her in the car and she put her hand on the horn to get help.

"One man came running out from one of the houses on the street and the robbers fled.

"It is terrible what happened."
