Tipton man denies murdering barber in Halesowen

A man has denied murdering a barber in the Black Country.

Wolves fan Stuart Roe, 34, was stabbed to death in Springfield Drive at around 1.30am on Sunday, December 30 last year.

Martyn Turley, 57, from Tipton, pleaded not guilty to murder and possessing an offensive weapon in public when he appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of his trial, which has been scheduled to start on June 24.

Tributes poured in for Mr Roe, from High Street, Quarry Bank, following his death. Friends described him as kind, generous, friendly and caring.
