Officers from West Midlands Police found a 'large' quantity of cannabis plants in a van parked outside a house in Dudley after being tipped off in a phone call.

Police had been alerted to suspicious behaviour at the property in Priory Road just before 1am yesterday.

Officers searched the house and found a further 40 small to medium plants inside.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis, but police are searching for two men believed to have fled the scene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police: "A search of the house uncovered a cannabis growth set up and a further 40 small to medium plants.

"It is believed two men left the scene and officers are keen to hear from anyone who has any information.

"Enquiries continue and the man remains in police custody."
