The suspect was transferred to the West Midlands for questioning on Saturday.

Police have been searching for Miss Jones's former partner, Michael Foran, 32, since the 33-year-old was found dead at her maisonette, in Wyndmill Crescent, West Bromwich, on New Year's Eve. She had been reported missing by her sister on Boxing Day.

Officers forced entry into her home at 2am where her body was discovered. There was evidence of a "sustained and brutal attack with a weapon", police said.

Police launched a manhunt to find Michael Foran and said they believed he had travelled to Liverpool.

Earlier on Saturday, a 34-year-old West Bromwich man appeared before court charged with helping Michael Foran go on the run.

Keith O'Dwyer, of Beaconview Road, has been charged with "intent to impede the apprehension" of Michael Foran.
