Victim of Coseley 'machete attack' bangs on doors in plea for help

The victim of a suspected machete attack banged on doors in a Black Country street in a desperate plea for help.

Police descended on Summerhill Road in Coseley at around 1.30am and confirmed a man had been stabbed.

The 28-year-old suffered an injury to his hand which is not believed to be serious.

One resident helped the injured man by giving him first aid, according to the local neighbourhood watch team.

Neighbours woke to the sound of the man screaming for help following the attack.

The Coseley Neighbourhood Watch group said on Facebook: "Serious incident this morning around 2am (on) Summerhill Road. Believed to be a Machete attack.

"The guy was banging on a door and windows screaming. Resident gave first aid, seven police cars and closed-off road.

"Also there was a car abandoned which was taken away."

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police are investigating a stabbing which is believed to have taken place in Summerhill Road, Coseley just before 1.30am this morning.

"A 28-year-old man was taken to hospital with an injury to his hand that is not believed to be serious.

The stabbing was the first of two machete attacks in the Black Country on Saturday.

At around 2.30pm a customer at Paddy Power bookmakers in Wolverhampton city centre was attacked with a blade said to have been around two feet long.

The victim's finger was almost sliced off and a suspect was arrested at the scene.
