WATCH: Yobs throw fireworks and traffic cone inside pub

This is the moment a yob throws fireworks inside a Smethwick pub.

The group threw the lit fireworks towards the bar causing thousands of pounds worth of damage at around 6pm on October 31.

No one was injured in the attack at the pub, in Shireland Road.

West Midlands Police has now released CCTV footage in a bid to catch those responsible.

They said it was 'sheer luck' no was was seriously injures.

It came after Anthony Nicholls suffered serious injuries after a group are believed to have burst into his Tile Cross house and set off an industrial-sized firework on November 2, 2017.

The 56-year-old was taken to hospital following the blaze in Birchtrees Drive, Birmingham, but died five days later leading to the launch of a murder investigation.

Pc Sohaib Bin-Tariq, who is investigating the incident, said: “Throwing fireworks in this manner is not a fun prank, it can result in serious injury or even death.

“Just last year a firework was lit in the hallway of a house in Tile Cross, Birmingham killing Anthony Nicholls and seriously injuring a 50-year-old woman; and it’s only sheer luck that no one was injured at The Shireland.

“We have launched an appeal for information and I know that someone out there knows exactly who carried out this totally irresponsible and dangerous stunt. I’m appealing directly to those people, and urge them to come forward."

The released clip shows the group running into the pub wearing light coloured clothing, with two members seen wearing branded backpacks strapped to their front.
