Armed police swarm on students making film with fake guns
A group of college students got more than they bargained for when filming a project using fake guns saw them swarmed on by armed police.
The boys caused a panic when handling the fake weapons on a public car park, leading alarmed members of the public to call police.
Armed officers were sent into action and responded to the car park in Sutton Coldfield.
The students received a shock when the armed officers arrived ordering them to put down their weapons - before they hastily explained it was all part of a college project.
Officers saw the funny side afterwards. West Midlands Police's Firearms Operation Unit said: "If ever you want to film a college project with fake guns, please don’t use a public car park. Five Sutton lads got a shock when they found us with real guns shouting at them."
