Anthony Stone was spotted by police driving a stolen BMW in West Bromwich through red lights, without a driving licence or insurance, while breaking speed limits.

The 28-year-old was seen stopping at a junction before pulling into the path of a car, which he missed, on July 12, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Mr Howard Searle, prosecuting, said that Stone was driving on All Saints Way and surrounding roads at about 50mph in 30mph zones while overtaking vehicles dangerously where children were playing in the street before crashing into a wall.

Mr Searle said: "He ran off and police attempted to detain him but he got away. He was arrested two days later.

"He was interviewed by police about the car key burglary of the car and he said he had bought it and didn't believe it was stolen."

The car was reported to have been stolen in a car key burglary overnight between July 11 and 12.

Stone, of Nicholls Street, West Bromwich, pleaded guilty on Thursday to breaching bail as he did not go to court for his first appearance on July 27, handling stolen goods, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and dangerous driving.

Judge Nicholas Webb adjourned the case for sentencing on November 30 for probation reports to be written on Stone and ordered him to remain in custody until then.
