Petrol station worker stabbed for confronting non-paying driver

A worker was stabbed in the arm by a customer at a petrol station who was trying to drive off without paying.

The brave employee, a man in his late 20s, confronted the driver at Heath Service Station in Lichfield Road, Walsall, when he saw he had filled up his car with fuel and believed he was about to drive away.

When challenged, the driver pulled an object from his back pocket, which he used to stab the member of staff in the arm and scrape his head before he drove off without paying.

The victim suffered a small puncture wound to his arm and a scratch to the back of his head, and was treated in hospital.

Police are investigating the incident which took place at around 4.45pm on Saturday.
