Police launched an investigation with an appeal posted online by a neighbourhood watch group.

A Peugeot, believed to have four people inside, was blocked in by a dark coloured VW Scirocco.

Those in the Peugeot are believed to have had their hats, coats, jewellery and phones stolen.

The terrifying attack left some of the group injured after an appeal was posted on social media.

The robbery took place in Hurst Road, at Hurst Hill between Coseley and Woodcross.

Police believe the group in the Peugeot had been to McDonald's, in Kent Street, Lower Gornal, a short time before launching the attack which happened at around 10pm on October 10.

The post on the Coseley Neighbourhood Watch Facebook page said: "The four lads were then dragged out of the car and robbed of their hats, pouch, coats and jewellery.

"They also had their phone taken off them but they left them in the back of the car. The lads took a beating but, luckily, they are ok.

"Please be aware as the people in the three cars were tooled up with knives and hammers and the gang were wearing green bandanas."

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "It is reported that the occupants of a red Peugeot were blocked in on the road by a dark coloured VW Scirocco car before being chased down the road and having items of their clothing and a wallet stolen.

"The group in the Peugeot had been to McDonald's on Kent Street, Lower Gornal shortly before the offence and officers are keen to speak to anyone who noticed anything untoward in the restaurant.

"Other cars are suspected of being involved in the incident and enquiries are on-going to trace these vehicles."
