And a fourth suspect, a 27-year-old man, handed himself into Wolverhampton police station last night and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

The victim's family said: “Richard was a loving son, husband and father to four young children. He has been taken from us too soon. We love and deeply miss him so much."

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough from the force’s homicide team, said: “We are still in the early stages of our investigation and trying to get a clear understanding of how Richard died and all the events leading up to it.

“His family are devastated by his death and our thoughts remain with them all at this incredibly sad time.

“I need to get answers for them so I’m appealing for anyone who believes they may have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to get in touch with us."

It comes on the same day as the victim of another fatal stabbing in the Black Country was named as Christopher Harm.

The 25-year-old was killed in Engine Lane, Brierley Hill in the early hours of Saturday. Three men were arrested on suspicion of murder. Two were released with no further action, while a 25-year-old man remains in custody.
