Police raided the Temple Way, Oldbury home of the sister of Erlandas Majauskas after a tip off on December 7 last year, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.

"The defendant was either staying at, or making frequent use of, the address where he kept his computer," said Mr Hugh O'Brien-Quinn, prosecuting.

Majauskas returned while the police were still at the house and was arrested.

Analysis of his computer revealed seven movies categorised as the worst kind of child pornography, continued the prosecutor. The were also 23 moving images showing extreme pornography. Children who featured in the films were aged between eight and 14.

The defendant confessed to downloading all the pornography, was the only person with the password to the computer and took full responsibility for the crime.

Mistake

Miss Jabeen Akhtar, defending, said he admitted this had been the 'worst mistake of his life' but she pointed out that the number of images involved were comparatively few for this type of offence.

Majauskas from Waterloo Road, Smethwick and of previous good character, pleaded guilty to two charges of making indecent images of children and one of possession of extreme pornography. He was given a two year community order with rehabilitation courses aimed at breaking his interest in pornography with 100 hours unpaid work and £535 costs.

Judge James Burbidge QC told him: "You have no history of offending and took full responsibility for what you had done. This will ensure the public are best protected."
