Staffordshire Police invited the public to quiz them on topics of concern within their communities as part of the special event.

Residents from across the borough got behind their computer screens as they praised officers for their work and highlighted issues on Thursday.

Chief Inspector Gemma Ward said: "We really appreciate you providing us with information that we can act upon to keep our communities safe. We value your feedback on the service we provide too."

The online chat saw residents discuss police presence on the streets, with a lack of foot patrols in the Highfields area raised as a concern.

Pc Phil Davies, who covers Highfields and Burton Manor, said PSCOs conduct high visibility patrols regularly through the day but 'police officers patrol when demand allows them to'.

He went on to say a new policing model, launched in July, should lead to an increase in visible patrols on the streets.

When quizzed whether the force's latest recruitment drive would result in more foot patrols in the borough, Chief Insp Ward said: "We want you to feel a policing presence in your local area - whether that be officers on foot patrol, us attending local community meetings, or being online for surgeries like this.

"It is important that we are accessible to you in a variety of ways, and whilst we can't be on every street all of the time - we will ensure that we are aware of issues in your area and you always have a way to contact us."

Vehicles travelling both ways down one-way road Co-operative Street was dubbed a 'potential accident' by one resident, with officers claiming they would monitor the location.

Officers reassured another resident they were working closely with the council to tackle dog fouling and littering.

The team was also praised for tackling vandalism and anti-social behaviour in green space near Yelverton Avenue.

Calls for officers to step up patrols in Littleworth were made after reports of drug activity near its Co-op store.

Pc Helen Davies, who covers Stafford Town, said: "We are aware of the problems in the area behind the Co-op and we patrol this area regularly to try to deter such activity.

"Please report any suspicious activity when it is seen to be happening as this will enable us to attend the area promptly and deal with any criminal activities there and then."

There were also concerns about an increase in garden shed thefts and drug issues in Stone and Walton, as well as off-road bikers in Highfields and Western Downs.
