Three men have been arrested in early-morning drugs raids in Stafford.

Police officers used a chainsaw and battering ram to smash their way into four addresses in Pennycroft Court at 6.30am yesterday after being tipped off about drugs being supplied in the area.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A and B drugs, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs and another 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of a bladed article.

Chief Inspector Gemma Ward, commander for the Stafford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "These four coordinated raids are part of an on-going crackdown to stem the flow of drugs into the town centre and demonstrate once more our commitment to tackling the supply of these dangerous substances."
